Life As A Sweater: A Story About Finding Love And Belonging

Children’s Book | 2026 | 45 pages

Life as a Sweater follows an ordinary sweater as it moves through the world, from a department store rack to a new home, through wash cycles, everyday adventures, and the inevitable wear that comes with being loved. Told from the sweater’s perspective, the story turns a familiar object into a character with feelings, memories, and a life of its own.

The idea began with a short story I wrote in the third grade, also called Life as a Sweater. My mom had wanted me to write a children’s book for years, and she had saved that original school assignment all this time. One day, she brought it back to me, and seeing it again inspired me to return to the idea and finally turn it into a fully illustrated children’s book.

I made Life as a Sweater as a tribute to the child I was when I first imagined it, and also as a tribute to my mom for believing that the story deserved another life. It is a reminder that our earliest creative ideas still matter, and that sometimes a story simply waits for us to grow up and come back for it.
