When my last relationship fell apart, I didn’t know where to put everything I was feeling, so I wrote. I wrote poems, journal entries, fragments, and anything else that helped me make sense of the love I had lost. Eventually, those pieces became Sad in a Playhouse.
Part poetry collection, part visual memoir, the book combines writing with photographs, drawings, handwritten elements, and real-life artifacts such as ticket stubs, wristbands, and receipts. Together, they tell the story of a relationship from its hopeful beginnings through heartbreak, grief, reflection, and the slow journey back home to myself.
Sad in a Playhouse is deeply personal, but it is also for anyone who has ever loved someone, lost themselves inside that love, and had to figure out who they were afterward.
